I came across a humorous post at a website that deals with such manly things as log home building and restoration, and the post sets the record straight when it comes to women and log home chinking. Chinking [wikipedia] I learned is the stuff that goes between the logs on log cabins. When I think of log homes, let alone building one, I picture these rugged flannel shirt wearing, lumberjack guys manhandling logs and the stuff between the logs. I just always looked at it as a guys thing like working under the hood of my car. But here, in one fell swing of an axe he’s chopped that image down to a stump.

I had to laugh as I read the article as he deftly turned upside down the notion of chinking being a man’s job. People are fast to remodel their homes these days. There are plenty of shows on television that offer you tons of remodeling ideas and what you could do to your own home. These are usually really great remodeling ideas and many people get inspired to do their own homes through these shows. The art of flipping homes is also a big seller right now. People will buy homes and then remodel them and then sell them for a fast and a big profit, hopefully anyway. These are wonderful things to do but when someone wants to stay in the home they have and they do not want to sell just being inspired by a television show on some of the remodeling ideas they show is not enough. People need to get in there and just remodel some of their home.

When these people who have decided to remodel some parts of their homes just start to do it the last room they will even consider is usually the master bedroom. The master bedroom remodel is usually left to the last of the rooms because people do not feel that the master bedroom is an important room to remodel at first. The opposite is so true though. The master bedroom is very important to remodel and should be started with as soon as possible. Now of course if you are remodeling due to some issues you have with certain rooms by all means go ahead and remodel those areas first but then you should go with the master bedroom remodel. There is a very simple reason for doing the master bedroom and that is because while you are remodeling the rest of the house you will need somewhere to go when everything will get crazy and it will get very hectic indeed.

One of the first things that you see when you look at a home would be the front of the house and the entrance. Some homes have absolutely no curb appeal and thinking of some remodeling ideas would help in this area. I think the internet did this to all of us, a little bit. Maybe not the whole ‘doing the poodle’ thing, but it has definitely exposed us to things which we never thought we’d see. Or hoped never existed.
