Transhumanism = You have got to be kidding me…

Posted on May 22nd, 2008 by Dr. Comic

Well, I guess really all that you can do is laugh about transhumanism, because it really does sound ridiculous. The only problem is that in all likelyhood this stuff is going to be a stark reality VERY SOON. Although this video craps all over the transhumanist movement, there are scientists all over the world who are working on this stuff. And they want it to happen MUCH sooner than later.

No joke.

Get Fit With a Wii? - Try THIS!

Posted on February 1st, 2008 by Dr. Comic

This is a hilarious parody of the supposed phenomenon that you can get fit while using your Nintendo Wii.

I love some of the descriptions in this video….
“you’ll love leaning side to side, with amazing graphics…”
“and what about, ’sticking out your leg’”
“WiiFIT combines the perfect balance of barely moving, and doing mundane things…”
“We think you’ll enjoy Wii FIT’s… step-up-on-the-white-thing game”

LOL! This is priceless…

No Joke - Log Home Chinking Is Best Left To Women

Posted on January 18th, 2008 by Dr. Comic

I came across a humorous post at a website that deals with such manly things as log home building and restoration, and the post sets the record straight when it comes to women and log home chinking. Chinking [wikipedia] I learned is the stuff that goes between the logs on log cabins. When I think of log homes, let alone building one, I picture these rugged flannel shirt wearing, lumberjack guys manhandling logs and the stuff between the logs. I just always looked at it as a guys thing like working under the hood of my car. But here, in one fell swing of an axe he’s chopped that image down to a stump.

I had to laugh as I read the article as he deftly turned upside down the notion of chinking being a man’s job. This guy lays out 5 reasons why women are better at log home chinking than men and does it in such a way that I’m sure that there will be a number of those lumberjacks grumbling. Exposed. Tech Support - in the Middle Ages

Posted on January 15th, 2008 by Dr. Comic

This is a funny video about what tech support was like in the middle ages.

Imagine where we’ll be in 20 or 30 years when almost everyone is exposed to a computer and the interweb, and the problems we have today will be a thing of the past.

I’m sure we’re in for a host of other problems, though… like disconnecting your brain-interface, or recovering computer stored memories…

What do you think the problems of the future might be?

Okinawa Japan, a different kind of laughter.

Posted on January 11th, 2008 by Dr. Comic

I’ve recently found myself in a different place in life and took a little vacation to southern Japan to relax, unwind, and maybe even get a tan. The tan didn’t come, but I did discover things about life through the eyes of another culture–and even got some laughs in.

In southern Japan there’s an entirely different culture found on the island of Okinawa. This island is the most subtropical region of Japan and the culture and history goes back thousands of years. According to wikipedia in 1609 the Satsuma clan, which controlled the region that is now Kagoshima Prefecture invaded the Ryūkyū Kingdom. Following the invasion the Ryūkyū Kingdom surrendered to the Satsuma and was forced to form a tributary relationship with Satsuma and the Tokugawa shogunate, in addition to its previous relationship with China. Ryukyuan sovereignty was maintained since complete annexation would create a problem with China. The Satsuma clan earned considerable profits from trades with China during a period in which foreign trade was heavily restricted by the shogunate.

Okinawa is covered in UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Castles, that are believed to be created around the 15th century. Gusuku means castle, and there are around 300 around Gusuku in Okinawa. There are several of these castles located across Okinawa such as Shuri Castle, Nakijin Castle, and hundreds more.

Kouri island is said to have artifacts that date back over 3,000 years. That’s a long time ago, and that shows you just how ancient the culture of Okinawa is. They have a culture and history that is rooted in influence from China and Japan.

For anyone wanting to go to Japan, I recommend you to do some research on Okinawa Travel and make the call yourself, I think you will find that Okinawa is a culture that is all smiles and laughs.

George Bush Impersonator

Posted on January 8th, 2008 by Dr. Comic

This stand-up comedian on Letterman pulls off a great GW Bush Jr. impersonation.

You all know how much I love Georgy junior, so it’s quite refreshing to see this viewpoint of the master of disaster.
